Julian Light OperaPatience
W S Gilbert and Arthur SullivanA comic opera in two acts
Gilbert & Sullivan’s Patience is a light-hearted masterpiece satirising the intellectual attitudes prevalent in the late Victorian period.
The
satire remains is as relevant today as when the piece was written;
fashions and tastes may have changed, but blindly following the latest
trend or personality continues to this day.
In
Patience the aesthetic absurdity of the artistic poets clashes
with the robustness of the military man for the attention of the local
womenfolk, with Patience, a village dairy maid, the centre of
attraction. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, seems to be the answer.
A traditional production directed by Fraser Grant, with full orchestra under the direction of Jacky Wong.
